Wright Basketball Camps

Receive enthusiastic instruction from Coach Wright, who has over 25 years experience directing basketball camps. Coach Wright believes in instruction that is 'age & stage' appropriate, purposeful, and fun!

Attend our Day Camps and be exposed to the most experienced collection of basketball staff in the area, interact with the biggest names in basketball from college & the NBA, and participate in our “offensive progression” concepts that are drilled each day in creative ways and taught in a manner to campers that allow them to be able to practice on their own!

Attend one of our specialized Clinics and receive highly organized and creative instruction that emphasizes the fundamentals of ball handling, shooting, and team play!

Derek Wright - Owner/Director

Coach Wright has been the director of The Wright Basketball Camps for twenty five years. His camps and clinics have offered him the opportunity to work with thousands of young players, including many of the best boys and girls players in the area who later played in college, and even professionally.  Wright Camps has also attracted a number of notable coaches/speakers from high school, college, and the NBA.
Derek Wright has nearly 25 years of high school coaching experience, with eighteen of those as a Head Coach.  The 2023 - 24 season is Derek's first year back as the head coach at Council Rock North after six years away from high school basketball.  Wright has compiled over 250 wins  and he has the most wins of any boys basketball coach in school history at Council Rock North ('02-'16).  Wright led his teams to four Suburban One League championships, four PIAA AAAA State Tournament appearances, and twelve District I AAAA playoff appearances. The 2010 - 2011 team has the most wins in school history (27) and was nationally recognized by ESPN & USA Today.

Derek was a two time All Suburban One League player and team MVP at Council Rock High School ('92). Wright played college basketball at Moravian University ('96), where he was captain,  team MVP,  First Team All Middle Atlantic Conference and All –Academic recipient, for the 1996 MAC championship team.  

Derek received his Master’s Degree in Secondary Education from Villanova University and is the Social Studies District Coordinator for the Council Rock District. He and his wife, Carissa, have four children and they live in Newtown Borough.
